Allegra CramerHarpist. Vocalist. Songwriter. Educator Allegra channels a penchant for world rhythms, lyrical polyphony and spiritual adventurism into songs that soothe the soul and elude categorization. An internationally-touring Berklee alum currently based in Boston, she has worked with Grammy-winning artists Paula Cole and Javier Limon and has performed at the Boston Symphony Hall and IronHorse Music Festival, to name a few. She continues to record, tour, perform and facilitate workshops throughout the New England area. Allegra has performed in Australia, Israel, Colombia, and Mexico. In her travels she has given concerts, taught music masterclasses, led interactive workshops (for special needs adults and children) and volunteered with minority groups (such as relocated African refugee families in Utah, and marginalized migrant workers in Baja California Sur, Mexico). She toured throughout Israel as an accompanying musician with a group of Latter-Day Saint pilgrims and worked with the Arab-Christian community while visiting the sacred sites. Her spiritual quest has also led her to be immersed in the worship centers and musical traditions of Hinduism, via the Hare Krishna community. Her Sri Lankan heritage and Mormon faith also informs her work as an arranger and songwriter. Her craft is in the creative process of songwriting and improvisation as a means to channel the Divine. She has released two albums: “The Pilgrimage” a collection of original spiritual compositions, and “Sanctum of Deep Sighs” a devotional yet fresh re-imagining of Christian hymns. Her latest album "Awakening" is set to release this summer 2017. Go to Allegra Cramer Music for her solo projects. |
